MEN’S GOLF
On Saturday we played the first round of our club championships with A & B grades playing stroke and C Grade, Stableford
The A grade nett winner was Al Cowie with 70 followed by Jay Miers with 71 c/b. The gross winner was Gavin Fitzgerald with 70 from Brent Hull with 73.
The B grade nett winner was Michael Lynch with 73 c/b from Juy Cooper also on 73. The gross winner was Dave Snedden with 86 from Col Stage with 88.
The C grade place getters were Don Radburn 37, Steve Winchester 35, Dave Hammond 33 and Phil Edminson with 31 c/b.
Nearest-the-pin winners:
Fifth: John Connolly and Trevor Brown.
Sixth Ray McDonnell, Girts Kalnins and Clem Sanzey.
10th Dayl Orr and David Bell.
12th John Connolly and Steve Takacs.
Ball run down in A and B went to 77 c/b and C grade to 28.
Special mention must go to one of our up and coming Juniors, Josh Maloney, a member of this year’s South East Golf Academy, who broke par for the first time on Thursday with a four under 67. Congratulations Josh, we look forward to many more.
WOMEN’S GOLF
On Wednesday, the ladies played a Stableford for the Presidents versus Captains event.
The President’s team triumphed over the Captain’s, 257 points to 254.
The winner on the Presidents team was Val Moore with 36 points. The runner-up was Gwen Murphy with 35 points. Jan Young was third with 32 points.
The winner on the Captains team was Pauline Nash with 37 points. The runner-up was Leonie Doolan with 34 points. Val Nixon was third with 30 points on countback.
Nearest-the-pins were won by Robyn Hawkins on the sixth and Barbara Kennedy on the 12th.
The longest drive was won by Jan Young.

SOCIAL GOLF
Tomakin golfers appreciated the opportunity for a nine hole stableford competition at the Moruya Golf Club last Sunday.
Dave Snedden returned the best score of 19 points followed by Garry Wales with 18 points on a count back from Peter Barnes.
Dave was nearest the pin on the 4th hole whilst Peter was closest on the fifth and sixth holes.
Craig Richards did not handle the conditions and was declared the Bradman winner.
A nine hole stroke and putt competition will be held at the Oaks Ranch on Patrons Day May 7.
CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB
WOMEN’S GOLF
On Wednesday, 79 players played in a single stableford. Many players found the conditions hard going, which was reflected in the score and the daily scratch rating of 76.
The winner in division one was Portia Dunn (20) with 36 points, followed by Judi Rimmer (17) with 35 points on a count back and Nikki Frank (9) in third place, also with 35 points.
In division two, the winner was Judy Stokes (29) with a score of 33 points. Di Collins (24) came second with 31 points on a count back and Dianne Gill (22) third, also with 31 points.
Margaret Maxwell (30) won division three with a score of 38 points. Jo Neal (31) took second place with 33 points, followed by Lyn Spanomanolis (40) with a score of 31 points.
There was only one nearest-the-pin winner, Marian Pearson. Marian Byrnes won the Phantasea.
The ball competition went to 26 on countback.
TUROSS HEAD COUNTRY CLUB
MEN’S GOLF
Tuross Head golfers enjoyed the challenging par event this week, with (name not included) walking away with the winning prize with a high plus 6 score.
Jim Wade followed with a sound round of plus 3.
The field dropped back a bit with the minor placings with Paul Scholze handing in a card of plus 1 which was enough to edge out David Schmid on countback.
Michael Allen kept up his recent good golf with a squared round.
Nearest-the-pins were awarded to Peter Hogan on the fourth with 2.75m in A division.
Tony Russell was best on the sixth with 2.21m and Ian Lawson won the seventh with 0.91m.
B grade player David Bray won the fourth with 3.65m, Peter Nikolic was closest on the sixth with 1m and David Bray scored another win on the seventh with 4.14m.
C grader Neil Alexander was gifted the fourth with 6.43m and Alan Lee won the sixth with 1.20m.
Next week's event is a single stableford round.
WOMEN’S GOLF
Tuesday's game was a 3BBB aggregate stableford event with 19 starters.
The winning team were Annette Manton, Lyn Benger and Kaye Lunt with a total score of 86 points, followed by Chris Wratten, Ann Ware and Pauline Nash with 84 points.
Balls went to Judy Apps, Jenny Wark and Sandra Hanlon. The golden hole in division one went to Pauline Nash and in division two it was Carol Clarke.
We would like to also congratulate Judy Apps on winning a bronze medal (third place) in the Golf NSW country at Stone Cutters Ridge in Sydney after winning the district medal. All at Tuross are very proud of her.
Next week the ladies of Tuross will host their open and hopefully have a great day.
VETERANS’ GOLF
Wednesday's game was a single stableford event as well as the second round of the Elaine Jennings Trophy for the ladies.
The winner was Noel Fletcher with 21 points after a double countback from Graham Moore and Kaye Lunt also with 21 points. The Bradman’s was won by Ian Wratten and the accuracy drive went to Kaye Lunt.
Nearest-the-pins:
Fourth: Steve Johnston (in the hole).
Sixth: Al Gannon.
Seventh: Gail Rogers and Ken Brown.
Balls or chocolate went to David Williams, 20 points; Ron Hanlon, Ray Downey and Annette Manton, 19 points; Bruce Martin and Steve Johnston, 18 points; Neil Grimley, Kath Crossling, Allen Lee, Mike Birks and Richard Kelly, 17 points and Henry Anderson, Les Johanson, Leonie Snodgrass and John Cox, 16 points.
Next week will be a two-person Irish team event and also the veterans will begin their winter start time of 8.15am for 9am.
