Holiday traffic: No more excuses
As a resident of a tourist destination we all expect traffic delays at this time of year, but this weekend it’s gone to a whole new level.

It’s about time the powers that be stand up and address the situation.
On the way back from Tuross on Saturday, the traffic was banked up back to Black Hill, just north of Coila and it took exactly 70 minutes to get the seven kilometres into Moruya.
Ridiculous and not good enough.
Our friendly Christmas tourist is not that patient at the best of times, but this situation blew it way out.
The anger and frustration was unbelievable.
People living in Valley View lane had hundreds of cars driving down the dead end because the GPS says it’s a shortcut.
People were going up Campbell St and into Page St to save going down the main street, driving like maniacs, endangering kids and elderly.
Every roundabout was blocked two cars wide.
When you said something you got the finger.
There are two simple cost-effective solutions: divert all traffic south, left off the bridge and round the back of the town, leaving the main street one way north, with the traffic lights switched off; or close off Church and Queen streets, so there is no access to the main street, lights switched off.
When one is stopped in traffic like this you notice an amazing amount of fresh rubbish thrown out by tourists, which ends up in our waterways.
Situations like this do nothing to encourage (tourists) but instead turn them away.
This country used to pride itself on getting things done. It’s time our elected representatives stop talking and start doing.

Poisoned lunch
Written in honour of all victims and families affected by a 'Coward Punch'.
So you didn’t know how to react,
After the names they called you behind your back,
Or you were the one that was walking home,
After a night on the town and all alone,
You mates were yelling and screaming 'Do it!’
You might be tough, but you don't have to prove it,
Or you could be on the receiving end,
But either way a life could end,
It’s not a drug, a drink or pill,
So swallow you pride, relax and chill,
For many a person will feel the pain,
Of your actions that night with nothing gained,
It changes lives and can leave you thinking, Why do I get angry when I'm drinking?
So think again before swinging that fist, or you may become lost in a hazy mist, of anger and hate that will change many lives,
And your back will then feel the cold steel knives, of peoples voices saying 'Why did you do it?'
But no matter your reason the courts will prove it,
If only you just walked away, then you both would have lived to see many a day,
But now they are gone and you are to blame,
For that split second decision hang your head in shame,
It's just like poisoning someones lunch,
It’s not edible … it's a COWARD PUNCH!

RE: A sustainably silly season.
Christmas is a holy season. Why, then, call it the silly season?
You are setting an example of disrespect that other thoughtless people will imitate. Please don’t do this.
