Thanks to all those residents and business owners who supported the petition over the Special Rate Variation (SRV) and the shire-wide meeting of Saturday, May 9.
I helped distribute the petition against the Eurobodalla Shire Council’s SRV and made contact with some wonderful residents and non-residents of this area.
A number have shared their stories with me of local issues - some still haunt me.
We have reached a figure of 10,864 signatures on our SRV petition.
There may be more petitions to be returned to help us reach the 11,000 figure. Bega MP Andrew Constance will be presenting the petition to Parliament in the near future.
I must question why this shire’s LEP, biocertification, sea-level rise, SRV (policies) etc have been taken to an extreme limit?
The result has left many residents at a disadvantage.
The organisation of this meeting did not come together without its issues.
Things only happen if people want them to happen.
For some time, I encouraged this meeting and raised this with Andrew Constance in July last year.
A gallant group of people came forward to form a group to meet with Andrew Constance to hopefully come up with a solution to take to the council.
Thank you to all the helpers and those who had confidence in me and supported me.
