The Tigers face the Cooma Stallions at the Cooma Showground.
The players and coaches are well aware that nine-a-side football is a much different proposition than an 80-minute, grinding competition game.
The Bay trounced Cooma 25-7 in the shortened version of the game but the big Cooma forward pack were not suited to the format and will be out to dominate.
On Tuesday night, the players were subjected to a torrid training session with the competition for spots bringing out the best.
The game has been switched to the Saturday due to a double booking of the Cooma Showground by the local council.
Reserve grade will kick off at 4pm and first grade at 5.30pm.
The under 18s team has a bye.
“Travel arrangements will be finalised at Friday night training,” Tigers’ president Bob Mitchell said.
The Tigers will be without Kane Leggett, Tim Stevens and Scott Ladmore who have suffered long-term injuries after a “hard” offseason training regime.
The club will field two competitive sides but could be stronger as a few players are yet to finalise registration.
“The selectors had a tough time choosing the teams,” Mitchell said.
First grade side to play Cooma:
Mick Tadich, Jake Cowling, Dylan Powell, Lachlan Knox, Ashbee Reid, Jacob Hill, Rhys Burazer, Gerard Dennis, Brent Pan, Jack Leggett, Marcus Golman, Sam Cunningham and Mason Harrison (captain): Reserves: Baden Payne, Mitch Freeman, Luc Hill and Scott Belcher.
Reserve grade:
Sean Connell, Willy Thomas, Brent Parker, Jason Wright, Blake Reid, James Thomas, Tyson Pan, Josh Lole, Ben Carmody, Jack Drew, Andrew Stewart, Billy Zahra, Jono Tennant. Reserves: Robbie Rankin, Andrew Chatfield, Bailey Scholtz, Ben Phillips and Will Reynolds.
The Bay’s women’s league tag team had six new players register at training on Tuesday.
The Bay will play exhibition games this year with the visiting sides playing with whatever numbers the Bay can field on the day.
Training is each Tuesday and Friday at Mackay Park at 5.45pm and a committee member will be help with registration.
Insurance and rego fees for the players are $35 and $5 for under 16s.
“The club has all the gear and jumpers so get over to the park and have some fun,” Mitchell said.
