YOU are to be congratulated by your editorial in showing the extent of the damage done in the shire, not by sea-level rise predictions, but by council’s unique, flawed, discriminatory and punitive sea-level rise policy.

One correction though, there are not 6000 properties affected by sea-level rise; there are 6000 properties affected by council’s policy.
This is a big difference because the majority of properties swept up by the council policy are not subject to sea-level rise, even from the worse case projections (predictions) from the IPCC within accepted planning windows.
It can cost those ratepayers thousands of dollars to hire a coastal engineer to prove council wrong.
A morally corrupt council which treats those ratepayers as being found guilty based upon opinion which is not supported by government legislation, regulation policy or guidelines.
For four years the council has refused to inform those ratepayers of their actions. They didn’t have the courage to tell the people what they had done to them because of feared voter backlash.
If the people had been told there would be a whole different council there today.
I am reminded of the quote: “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
No other coastal council in NSW holds their communities in such contempt. This is reflected in the economic basket case which is the Eurobodalla.
