Anglers braved the winter chill of 1 degree and icy winds to catch a feed, or hopefully a prize which included $200 worth of sponsor’s vouchers.
Eighteen anglers weighed 54 species of fish including kingfish, snapper, mowong and plenty of flathead.
Some small salmon were caught off the beaches which was quite a good effort despite the poor weather conditions.
The top angler was Annette Turner with a 2.9kg snapper.
Turner won the $50 meat voucher in category A.
Peter Bartholomew was runner-up with a nice 865-gram flathead scoring a $20 voucher.
Dan Piggott weighed a 1.1kg drummer to win the $40 voucher in category B.
John O’Neil was the runner-up with a 1.4kg mowie claiming a $20 prize.
Tim Stewart reeled in a 6.3kg mako shark.
It was small but still cranky and he claimed a $30 voucher.
“Thank you to all our sponsors,” club spokesman Andrew Turner said.
The next competition will be on August 9 and 10 and weigh in is by 2.00pm at the Malua Bay Bowling Club.
“Hope to sea you there,” Turner said.
