ON behalf of the Moruya and District Australia Day Committee, I wish to extend my thanks for the assistance and support given by Fairfax Media through the Moruya Examiner and Eurobodalla Independent leading up to our celebration of Australia Day at Russ Martin Park, Saturday, January 26, and your coverage of our Citizen of the Year Jenny Liney subsequently printed in the above papers

The celebrations on the day were supported by the Moruya Lions Club; the Rotary Club of Moruya; the Eurobodalla Shire Council, Community radio 2EAR, 2EC and Fairfax Media in pre-publicity; the Moruya Girl Guides; Sing Australia; Ewin Cole and Wattelebark Gallery (for the presentation clock); and the Graham Scobie Band.
The Moruya and District Australia Day Committee is appreciative of the support given by these groups, and we look look forward in the future to continuing the productive partnership between all of these groups and our committee.
The Australia Day Ambassador was local footballer Michael Weyman, and the Moruya and District Citizen of the Year for 2013 was Jenny Liney, who was recognised for the invaluable contribution she has made to the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens serving as the honourary curator of the Wallace Herbarium for many years.
While crowd attendance was down a fraction on last year, the day was still a success and if anyone is interested in joining our committee for preparations for celebrating Australia Day in 2014, please contact myself at dereka48@bigpond.com.
Again, many thanks.
Derek Anderson
