The women of Quota who have signed up for the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner health challenge have a clear challenge for the men in their lives – and any other bloke for that matter.

“C’mon,” they said on Wednesday during a visit to our office.
“If we can do it, you can.”
“It” referred to their collective three-month commitment to move more and perhaps eat less – depending on their individual goals.
“You” referred to the glaring lack of men who have signed up for the challenge.
Eleven women from Quota are taking part and, after three weeks, several are already kicking goals.
As our story on page 4 shows, little changes can make you feel great.
Over time, those little changes, can also help to bring down some ugly numbers.
Southern NSW has a higher rate of overweight and obese people.
The national average of people in the risky categories is 63 per cent – but that number swells to 69 per cent for our region.
That kind of number is why the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner has decided to push the healthy barrow.
As our front page story on Indigenous health shows, the numbers really need to change in that context too.
There is some good news, also, in our sport section.
Indigenous role model and mentor Layne Brown has been selected for the Indigenous Marathon Project and could be on his way to the New York City Marathon, just like Wade Mongta, of Bodalla, last year.
He knows the event is a great fit for Indigenous people.
“Running is a traditional form of communication and transport for Aboriginal communities,” he said.
“There are so many benefits, not just the physical benefits, but mental health as well.
“It’s an incredible sense of clarity and serenity.
“It (the Indigenous Marathon Project) is about taking that knowledge back to empower my own family and community,” he said
“I’d love to see running groups set up in Aboriginal communities along the coast to bring that back.
“If anyone is interested I’d love to hear from them.”
So would we.
