Essential Theatre have been touring the bard’s plays in the nation’s wineries and gardens for sixteen years and for the second year, the Eurobodalla Shire Council will bring the theatre company to the Eurobdalla Regional Botanic Gardens for an evening performance on January 20.
The council’s coordinator creative arts development Indi Carmichael said Essential were passionate theatre makers who reinterpreted classic texts for modern times, delivering vibrant and engaging productions.
“You are guaranteed a night to remember,” Ms Carmichael said.

Ms Carmichael said she took her two children to last year’s performance of Much Ado About Nothing and they were engrossed.
“They are 11 and 12 and it was their first Shakespeare – they were totally engaged with it,” Ms Carmichael said.
“It was magical: After a hot summer’s day an evening breeze swept through the botanic gardens.”
This year’s event will also be an evening picnic, with gates opening at 5.30pm for the 6.30pm show.
“Bring a picnic, a bottle of wine and a blanket or deck-chairs,” Ms Carmichael said.
Insect repellent was also recommended.
Ms Carmichael advises Shakespeare lovers to get online and purchase their tickets soon.
“Tickets are on sale now,” she said.
“There are still tickets available but they are selling fast – it will sell out.
“Remember it is online sales only – last year we had to turn people away when they turned up hoping to buy tickets at the gate – the gardens don’t have the facilities for onsite sales.”
Ms Carmichael wanted to remind play-goers the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens are a no-bin-zone.
“Please take out all you bring in,” she said.
Tickets are $40 per person.
“We don’t make money from this,” Ms Carmichael said.
“We are giving keeping the price low to give shire residents every opportunity to see this fabulous show.”
‘Twelfth night’ refers to the twelfth day after Christmas, the eve of the Feast of the Epiphany, which in Shakespeare’s time was a day of revelry.
