Planning and sustainability director Lindsay Usher said recyclables were not going to landfill.
He said council had received inquiries after a Four Corners expose on stockpiling and dumping of recyclables, particularly glass.
Local governments came under particular scrutiny.
“All our recycled glass is processed in Moruya and crushed into a fine sand and used for construction in the shire,” Mr Usher said.
The glass processing occurs at the SUEZ recycling facility in Moruya, where a glass-crushing machine was installed in 2014.
The facility diverts more than 2,400 tonnes of glass – an Olympic pool’s worth – from landfill.
