Police said Michael James Tyrrell, 32, of Congo, was arrested in a Penrith on Wednesday, February 15, and charged with using a carriage service to procure a child under 16.
In refusing bail, Magistrate Margaret McGlynn identified the risk of Tyrrell “endangering the safety of victims, individuals or the community” and “failing to appear at any proceedings for the offence”.
Tyrell did not enter a plea during his February 16 court appearance.
The case has been adjourned for mention at Penrith Local Court on April 7.
