Commencing Friday, February 8 at Hanging Rock Oval in Batemans Bay, the competition is a perfect way for those interested to be introduced to the sport.
Competition coordinator Caroline Reynolds said she was excited to be part of the new Thunder Social Women’s Cricket in Batemans Bay.
“Having the support of the local cricket community and Cricket NSW provides a wonderful opportunity for girls and women in the Bay to come together and have fun with the game of cricket,” she said.
While many believe that the nature of cricket is time consuming which can act as a deterrent for those thinking of taking up the sport, the competition is run on Friday evenings from 5:30pm and games are completed within an hour to an hour and a half.
Cricket NSW’s female participation specialist Julie Stafford said this new social women’s cricket competition was a fantastic way to get involved in cricket.
“A number of these competitions are running across NSW and every one of them has grown in number each season,” she said. “You don’t need any prior knowledge of cricket but if you do that’s a bonus.
“We’re delighted the Batemans Bay Club wants to offer this program and we’re looking forward to making it a success.”
