Batemans Bay High School students Joshua Spruce and Daniel Waplington tried the chairs out at Corrigans Beach, and their smiles said it all.
Charles Stuart and Geoff Fielding of Batemans Bay disability advocacy group The Bay Push, which helped secure the funding from Batemans Bay Soldiers Club for the chairs, were delighted.
“Seeing the smiles on the kids faces, and them being able to do something they would otherwise not be able to do, that’s what its all about,” he said.
“We would certainly like one more, so if any benefactor out there can help, that would be great.”
Batemans Bay High School special education coordinator Angie O’Connor was amazed and said the chairs were “really light and easy to manoeuvre.”
“The school uses the beach a lot but we haven’t been able to do this with the wheelchair kids,” she said.
