The National Servicemen’s Memorial day acknowledged the 227,000 young men aged 18 years who were eligible for the National Service scheme which commenced in 1951.
Eurobodalla and Far South Coast National Servicemen’s Association president Alan Shephard said the annual day of remembrance marked the day the last Nasho completed his National Service obligation.
Wreaths and floral tributes were placed on the memorial stone, which features an aircraft propeller, an anchor and army helmet, representing the three services, in memory of the men.
Reverend Linda Chapman led a prayer and Graham Robertson played the last post.
