Keep left … it's a tradition
Okay, so it's not the law to keep left as a pedestrian but common sense says if we ALL keep left, just like we do on Australian roads, then chaos will be averted.

We have always “kept to the left” in Australia and it is only in recent times that the general rule of “keep left” has found to be slipping...who knows why.
Perhaps because we have become more multicultural and the general mix of people are not aware of “keep left”? Perhaps because arrogant young teenagers pooh pooh traditional values and ways? Whatever!
This is dangerous people. If you are on the left, doing the right thing and you see someone coming straight for you, you can't be sure whether they know you and want to have a chat, whether they are hunting you down because you owe them money, perhaps they have been watching Dancing With The Stars and feel like doing a quick salsa with you?
KEEP to the LEFT and you won't have to worry.
For one thing, it helps to keep the pedestrian traffic moving in an orderly and quick fashion.
Older folk are not going to risk being run down by more energetic youngsters.
Prams are not going to bowl you over, leaving just tyre tracks across your back in their wake!
Come on, get with the “keep left” program and everyone can share the sidewalks without angst!

Fishy figures behind quota
Nature Coast Marine Group is very concerned about the operation of super trawlers in our waters.
While the Federal Government assures everyone that there are adequate stocks of the small pelagic fish (baitfish) targeted by the Geelong Star, historically fish stocks have been seriously overestimated until it is too late and the stocks are gone.
The current quota for the Geelong Star is based on data that is at least 10 years old. Although the government has imposed strict conditions on the operators, mammals such as dolphins are still at risk.
It is hard to see how the enormous catch of fish and by-catch will not have a devastating impact on our marine ecosystems, as well as on the local fishing industry and recreational fishing. A video on the ‘Stop the Super Trawler’ Facebook page highlights many concerns about the operations of the Dutch owners of the Geelong Star.

Sceptics don’t deny climate change
Terry McGee laments the “lack of evidence” presented by CAGW sceptics such as myself and Neville Hughes. But, the fact is, we invariably support our letters with evidence. It's just that, because that evidence does not conform to Terry's favoured narrative, he simply dismisses it as the product of dupes under the malign influence of “vested interests”.
For the umpteenth time, sceptics do not deny that the climate changes, sometimes even through human influence. What we question is the extent to which human CO2 emissions will bring about catastrophic change and whether the astronomical cost to supposedly avert this putative disaster is justified.
Does anyone seriously believe that UN bureaucrats, given control of such taxpayer funded largesse, will not spend with gay abandon, regardless of the efficacy of their pet solutions? What accountability will they be subject to?
The absence of any statistically significant warming over the past 18 years, in defiance of the computer models which predict catastrophic warming over the same period, suggests we need hard-headed sceptics more than ever.
