FIVE people were flown to hospital after a car drove off a steep embankment on the Kings Highway west of Nelligen on Thursday, according to a police officer at the scene.

The vehicle had gone 15 metres off the road down the embankment.
Five ambulances, police, Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue Crews were on the scene and the Snowy Hydro SouthCare helicopter arrived to take the accident victims from the scene.
3.05pm: A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics were called at about 2.30pm to reports of a car driven off a cliff on the Kings Highway.
The spokesman said the service had unconfirmed reports of two seriously injured and two with minor injures.
3pm: Police have asked drivers to delay driving on the Kings Highway until a rescue helicopter can safely land and depart with patients after a serious accident.
The road at 3pm was closed in both directions so Snowy Hydro SouthCare can land. A contraflow will be in place to manage traffic after the helicopter departs, delaying traffic.
2.50pm: Snowy Hydro SouthCare has been sent to reports of seriously injured patients at the Kings Highway. The rescue helicopter spokesperson said the crew was sent on a “primary mission to Nelligen for a motor vehicle accident”.
2.35pm: Batemans Bay Fire and Rescue Crews are rushing to the Kings Highway after reports of a car driving off a cliff, with five people possibly trapped.
A Fire and Rescue spokesman said two crews were heading to the scene, about 10 minutes drive from Batemans Bay.
Emergency crews are attending. No details have been confirmed.
