A Batemans Bay police officer said the driver became stuck crossing a creek in the Dignams Creek area on Tuesday, prompting a helicopter search.
The resident of the area was found shortly after 5pm at a friend’s place, which was also cut off by floodwaters.
The driver had been able to exit the stranded vehicle and walk to safety, but could not contact anyone for help or to assure them of his safety.
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was sent to search the area and located the vehicle earlier in the afternoon but it was not clear if the driver remained inside.
“Don’t drive through swollen creeks,” the police officer warned, saying even residents who knew their own area could get into difficulty.
