The Malua Bay duo travelled to Lake Macquarie and Kempsey to compete in their respective NSW state titles .
Peter, 16, travelled to northern NSW to defend his NSW ABA Archery title hosted by the Kempsey Archery Club.
"Being the defending champion adds some pressure but it also means you know what to expect," Peter said.
He travelled from a holiday spot on the Great Barrier Reef via boat, plane and car to make the event, but the rest from a heavy competition schedule had a positive effect.
Unbelievably he shot four near-perfect rounds to win his division and he also shot the weekend’s highest overall score.
“400 is a perfect score, so to shoot four rounds of 398 is very satisfying on a range I have never seen before," he said.
Peter travels to Victoria later this month to defend his Victorian ABA State Title.
Peter's younger sister Leah, 13, competed at a much faster pace, banging bars at the NSW BMX State Titles at Lake Macquarie.
The titles were held across three days which included practice, 20-inch racing and 24-inch cruiser racing.
On Saturday, Leah took to the track on the larger-wheeled 24-inch cruisers.
She won all three motos which allowed her the first lane pick for the final.
"I love the Lake Mac(quarie) track as I can use all my skills like manualing (one-wheel riding) and jumping,” Leah said.
She led from the drop of the gate to the finish to be crowned state champion.
Sunday’s 20-inch racing was tougher because of the quality of the field.
The motos were fast with the top few girls posting times equal to the pro women.
Leah finished the motos in second place and had the second lane choice in the final.
Australian number one Ash Miller took lane three and left Leah to her preferred lane one.
After a strong start and a tough first corner, Leah was in third place through the next two straights.
She made an overtaking manoeuvre in the final corner to finish second behind Miller.
"I am stoked to grab second as it is my best result at a NSW titles on the 20" bike," Leah said.
Awards for the NSW state series were also presented during the weekend with the two-wheeled dynamo taking out the 13 to 14 girls cruiser series and second place in the 20" series.
In November, Leah will compete at the Victorian state titles.
