Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is spending $450,000 on maintenance work on the bridge’s opening gear.
The work started at the beginning of June and, weather permitting, the bridge will reopen on September 11.
An RMS spokesman said users of the waterway, including charter boat operators, were consulted before the work began.
“We ensured they were aware of the closure to allow boat owners to move their vessels to alternative moorings,” he said.
During the closure, Marine Rescue’s largest vessel has been unable to travel west of the bridge.
“Marine Rescue has a larger boat downstream from the bridge at Batemans Bay Marina, with direct access to the ocean for any emergency call-outs,” the RMS spokesman said.
“Smaller vessels are able to carry out rescues upstream of the bridge.”
