HuntFest’s Dan Field said the NATA Oval car park was filled to capacity on Saturday morning and was closed.
The inaugural HuntFest was held in 2013.
This year, for the first time, firearms and ammunition were displayed and were available for sale to those with the appropriate licences and paperwork.
“There was only one firearm sold at the event,” Mr Field said.
Another first for 2015 was a Sporting and Shooters Association mobile air-rifle range.
“You needed to be 12 years old to have a shot on the air-rifle range, so there were a few disappointed 11 year-olds,” Mr Field said.
Butchering and sausage-making demonstrations were popular, as was the chance to try archery.
The photography contest drew 1243 entries and the top 10 in seven categories were displayed. Winners will be announced this week.
Barbecue cooks served more than 185kg of venison and 200kg of goat as burgers and kofta sandwiches. Cryovac venison and goat was also on sale.
There was a minor confrontation on Sunday, when an ABC film crew wanted to film the carcass skinning and air-rifle range.
Organisers refused them entry and they filmed around the venue.
“HuntFest was a great family event and everyone had a good time,” Mr Field said.
“I thank the South Coast committee and in particular the junior members who worked long hard hours to make the event the success it was.”
