The team played against a well drilled and disciplined Marist College at Captain Oldrey Park, Broulee.
The Dolphins’ forwards of Luke Campbell, Charlie Tautuku, Joe Parkin, Shane Mass, Ethan Mass, Cody Williams, Rhys Morton and Caleb Keller displayed great patience, continually attacking the breakdown to maintain field position.
With team structure maintained, Broulee’s under 14s were given the opportunity to score and were up 17-nil at half-time.
The Marist team came out firing in the second half and scored first points.
The determined Broulee back line of Anthony Patyus, Ben Facchini, Angus Crowley, Jordan MacPherson, Ryan Foley, Christian Filmer, Geordie Kemp and Jye Cook held their line and shut down any breaks from the opposition.
The boys’ work led to more scoring opportunities for the Dolphins who crossed the line for three further tries in the second half.
Broulee assistant coach Nathan Mass said he was pleased with the improvements the team was making.
“The game this week was intense at times. The boys are learning that strong teamwork is required when things get physical,” Mass said.
“They are really starting to step up and get into it.”
