Mr Mulcahy, who works at Moruya Mufflers, recently completed his Stage III Automotive and Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical through TAFE.
At his graduation he received an award for the most outstanding student.
Mr Mulcahy began his apprenticeship in 2011 after graduating year 12.
He travelled to Nowra once a week for his TAFE studies, which he said he enjoyed.
“TAFE was good, I had good teachers, it was interesting and I made a few mates,” he said.
“Last year I got the award below the most outstanding student, this year I got highest average score.”
Mr Mulcahy has now formally completed his TAFE studies, but will be officially qualified in August.
He said he always been interested in cars, motorbikes and “all things mechanical”.
“It’s a good feeling when you fix something to be better than it was when it came in,” he said.
Moruya Mufflers manager Mick Watts was proud of his protégé.
“He’s a good worker and very polite with the customers, very intuitive,” Mr Watts said.
Mr Mulcahy now plans to complete his certification for registration and pink slip inspections.
