SINCE the local government elections in 2012, many writers to the letters pages of the shire’s newspapers have expressed, in general, dissatisfaction with Eurobodalla Shire Council’s performance, even though the six new councillors were elected to represent the concerns or views of the residents.

The six newcomers represent a majority in the nine-councillor council.
Despite a two-third change, some people are still not satisfied.
They haven’t really publicly spelled out what it is they are not satisfied about nor have they been able to define what part or percentage of the shire’s population thinks the same or agrees with them.
Making statements such as council should be sacked or amalgamated, without community-backed reasons why, is mischievous and perhaps more of a self-serving attitude.
However, if there is evidence of non-performance by the present council, those who are unhappy with council might find that a little diplomacy could go a long way to solving community concerns and upsets.
