The Batemans Bay unit organised collections from the Village Centre, the industrial areas of Moruya and Batemans Bay, Moruya Country Markets, Artistic Flair, and Batemans Bay Soldiers’ Club.
A total of $1272 was raised, which will support the everyday work of Red Cross in helping thousands of people who are alone and struggling.
In addition, a total of $755 was raised to support the people in Vanuatu following the devastation caused by Cyclone Pam.
The community’s generosity will help fund everyday Red Cross programs such as a daily phone call to isolated and elderly Australians to check on their wellbeing, food programs that provide a nutritious breakfast for kids who might otherwise go to school hungry, and disaster response programs that enable Red Cross to prepare and respond to natural disasters such as bushfires and floods as soon as they occur.
To ensure this vital work continues, our goal was to raise $2 million nationally during the month of March through local community activities.
Every little bit helps and Batemans Bay Red Cross Unit is proud to have been able to do its part in helping to reach this goal.
If you weren’t able to make a donation on the day, there is still time to donate to Red Cross Calling by visiting redcrosscalling.org.au or calling 1800 811 700.
Red Cross greatly appreciates the support of all our members and volunteers who generously donated their time and efforts, not only for Red Cross Calling but every day of the year.
