A man who allegedly ran into his neighbour's yard and stabbed him in the back with a kitchen knife in an unprovoked attack faces up to 25 years behind bars.

Police allege Phuvong Singrattana, 29, pulled into his neighbour's yard in a black four-wheel drive early on Friday afternoon, got out and threatened him with two knives.
When his neighbour ran away, it's alleged the Mr Singrattana chased after him, stabbed him in the lower back with one of the knives, then got into his car and drove away.
Police documents tendered to the court described the attack as "violent" and "unprovoked", carrying a maximum penalty of 25 years imprisonment if he is convicted.
The neighbour, 36, was taken to Liverpool hospital in a stable condition.
Parramatta Bail Court heard Mr Singrattana was in a "paranoid state of mind" when he was arrested and charged by police with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He did not apply for bail and was ordered to undergo a mental health assessment before he faces court again on April 9.
