The Pirates faced Bega/Angledale at Bodalla Oval and captain Boyd Brennan won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first.
The home side made a steady start but were soon under the pump, as the top order failed.
The Pirates were reduced to 3/37 and only Tony White (22) was amongst the early runs.
It didn’t get better for the home side as it slumped to 5/57 and Bega/Angledale was a chance to bundle out the minor premiers for less than 100 runs.
Steve Benic was able to calm the side’s nerves with a steady 22, but a run out cost the side dearly.
At 7/84 the home side still had plenty to do.
Ty Hitchins and junior Teddy Turner walked to the crease and showed their senior counterparts “how it should be done”.
The pair put together a patient 32-run partnership until Turner was dismissed on 12.
After 40 overs Hitchins was not out on 35 and the Pirates’ innings ended at 8/133.
In reply Bega/Angledale struggled to build a successful partnership as the Pirates took wickets regularly.
Simon Hitchins (2/10) demolished the top order and spin twins Jenny O'Brien (4/11) and Brennan (1/1) cleaned up the tail as Bega/Angledale side were bundled out for 82.
The C grade side tackles Mallacoota after it demolished Wyndham in the other semi-final.
Brennan hoped said it was a “quirk of the competition” that the two furthest clubs apart will meet in the grand final.
“I’m hoping the three-hour travel time and home ground advantage has a say in the final result,” Brennan said.
