Ms Atkinson said she had spoken to Durras Community Association members who want to have the junction upgraded and a left-turn slip lane built.
Ms Atkinson would not comment directly on the safety of the intersection, but said she would “fight to have it addressed”.
“I will absolutely stand up for Durras,” Ms Atkinson said.
“I’ve got kids with their learners’ permits, I am very worried about Princes Highway roads.
"I am offended by Mr Constance’s constant assertions that they’re putting $780 million into the Princes Highway, when I am yet to see real evidence of that in this electorate.”
Ms Atkinson said Mr Constance had promised a Princes Highway upgrade at Dignams Creek in 2011.
“Labor had already done the plan, we had already acquired the land and, in four years, all they did was write another plan worth $1.8 million, which is insulting,” she said.
The Roads and Maritime Services website says it is planning to realign the Princes Highway at Dignams Creek and in the 2014/15 NSW Government budget, “$1.8 million has been allocated to continue planning for the upgrade”.
