Damien Rogers claims Eurobodalla Shire Council may have used gas pipes for 30 kilometers of water mains in the north of the shire in recent years.
Mr Constance said on Monday, March 23 that he had spoken to Treasury officials.
“I have spoken to the head of Treasury regarding the allegations and they are now looking into what has occurred,” he said.
“I want openness and transparency on this, (but) this is not by any means a full inquiry, (as) Mr Rogers is saying."
