The branch participated in the Healthy Water, Healthy Lives project, led by Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences postgraduate researcher Paul Harvey.
Moruya CWA secretary Robyn Wright said Mr Harvey took a water sample from the hall’s kitchen taps on January 20, after all taps in the facility had been rested for 24 hours.
The results were well below the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, with less than one microgram per litre of arsenic (guideline 10), 280 of copper (guideline 2000) less than one of lead (guideline 10) and 1.2 of manganese (guideline 500).
The results surprised Ms Wright, as the hall was built in the early 1970s.
“Paul was exceptionally pleased,” Ms Wright said.
“We were really pleased because a lot of people use the hall and we use it for catering.
“We’re pleased we have such a positive outcome for our water supply.”
