Junior Boars president Ronnie Collier said the young players showed spirit and determination last season.
“Being their first year in rugby and with half the team young enough to play for the under 9s, they were incredible,” Collier said.
The team was defeated in the semi-finals but walked away with pride and received “incredible support” from committee members, senior players, families and community supporters.
“The supportive environment and outstanding teamwork and mateship saw them become minor premiers,” he said.
The juniors will be back on the field this season and the Boars are hoping to build on its success with under 10s, 11s, 13s and 15s.
“Arrangements can be made for any players requiring assistance with transport to games,” he said.
Training begins this afternoon at 4pm at Hanging Rock.
On Friday the under 13s and 15s train at 4pm and the under 9s to under 11s train at 5pm.
“We are very fortunate to have the backing of the senior members again this year, who volunteered to subsidise our juniors,” Collier said.
Registrations are open and can be arranged at the club house at Hanging Rock on Wednesdays from 4pm to 5.30pm or by phoning Collier on 0408 247 644, or Kylie on 0428 743 471, or at juniorboars@gmail.com.
