This means the residents are stuck with the current squabbling bunch for another 20 months.
Ex-councillor Allan Brown (not of the ERA) is highly critical of the current council at every turn, but almost certainly wants to resume that exalted station in life.
He has no love for the current councillors, their special rate variation application “grab for cash” and would protect us from their future extravagant largesse.
This is despite him being a councillor when a former general manager was granted a massive cash bonus and an expensive vehicle as a retirement gift.
Is he a believer of the Bart Simpson mantra, “It wasn’t me, I wasn’t there, I didn’t vote for it, you can’t prove I had anything to do with it!”?
Then there’s Milton Leslight, a quasi latter-day Robin Hood in that he decries and distances himself from most things the bad council does so that he can be seen as the potential saviour of the Eurobodalla people.
To what office or honour does he aspire?
I believe it’s none other than mayor.
Ah, to be able to approve the many much-needed developments that he knows this shire most urgently needs if we ratepayers are to truly prosper.
To gain this office he must, like Allan Brown, keep himself in the public eye, and getting his face and opinions in the Bay Post on a regular basis should definitely help.
Oh that some new candidates will rise up from the primordial swamp and offer themselves in 2016, but they’ll need a party and a slogan.
What about the SIP (Self Interested Party)?
Their platform could be a promise to only vote and promote issues that will be of direct benefit to themselves.
