AN afternoon storm ended play early in the two-day match between Batemans Bay and Bay and Basin in the Shoalhaven District Cricket Association second grade competition at Hanging Rock on Saturday.

Bay and Basin won the toss and sent the home side in to bat and found early success against Batemans Bay’s top order.
Jamie Prior (1), Shaun Creswell (5), Shaun Lloyd (5) and Brett Woolridge (0) failed to fire and Batemans Bay was reeling at 4/12.
Paul Windsor and Mark Reidy took to the crease and swung the momentum in the home side’s favour.
Reidy was damaging at one end with four sixes and two fours and Windsor was able to tick over the strike until he was caught, on 20, and the Bay was 4/88.
Reidy (65) was dismissed a short-time later which brought Cory Maddison to the crease.
Maddison was the only lower-order batsman who was able to score in double figures, hitting 15 runs to help his side past the century-mark.
Sam Bennett (3) and Lindsay Worne (6) chipped in but when Worne was caught and bowled the Bay was all out for 120 from 28.5 overs.
The umpire called lunch at the end of the Bay’s innings.
A storm rolled in and forced the covers to be placed over the square and at about 5pm play was called off.
Next Saturday Batemans Bay will have to take early wickets for a shot at first innings points.
