In Africa a large flightless bird called an Ostrich exists. It’s known that when pursued, it will bury its head in the sand. It is deluded that if it cannot see its pursuers it is safe from danger. 

Well, we have Bill the Ostrich in Canberra with his head in the sand. If he can’t see the deficit he doesn’t have to address it and put forward his cost cutting alternatives. Millions of people elected to give the conservatives a large majority. This is of no interest to the selfish, serve-serving, perverse behaviour of Bill the Ostrich who is wrecking the government’s ability to govern. It is a replay of the Fraser/Whitlam strategy.

I look at a compliant Canberra press gallery and the pontifical soothsayers on each television channel’s nightly news. They smirk away at a wink, a cigar, a shirt-front, budgie smugglers or bike riding wear, but they can’t bring themselves to ask Bill the Ostrich one simple question: What alternative budget cuts does the Labor Party have on the drawing board to address the budget deficit as they have rejected all the at the Conservatives have put forward?

But the press gallery are all trivia and no substance.

Why is the interest of the country (and respecting the voters’ mandate) being put last by the cunning of Bill the Ostrich who hopes to be rewarded for his deceptive behaviour? Just like Malcolm the flim flam man rewarded.

If the deficit gets any bigger we will have to learn to speak Greek.
