The 18 groups received a total of $11,518 in funding to help them deliver a wide range of activities designed to improve health and wellbeing in the community.
Mayor Lindsay Brown presented the grants and said he was impressed with what the community groups can do with just a little help from the council.
“The grants we’ve handed out this week will help deliver a wide range of programs including fishing activities, a community herb garden, purchase of electronic equipment, landscaping of recreational lawn areas for bocce and quoits, promotion of health and wellbeing, art exhibitions and outings for seniors,” Cr Brown said.
“I know each group has invested much time and effort in making their projects and activities a success.”
Cr Brown said the groups were contributing positively to the health and wellbeing of people in Eurobodalla, and council was delighted to give them a helping hand.
Since 2005, the Healthy Communities and Seniors Week grant program has supported more than 20 local community groups every year.
They include bushwalking, seniors’ and craft groups, writing groups, woodworkers, dragon boaters, cultural, support and sports groups and all the funds are used towards enhancing health and social participation.
