St Vincent de Paul has joined forces with Uniting Care and the Salvation Army to reach as many people as possible this Christmas, but the agencies need your help.
They hope to fill more than 80 family hampers and 40 single hampers in the coming weeks.
Vinnie’s Batemans Bay welfare worker Marie Cook is seeking donations of new toys, non-perishable Christmas food and treats for the hampers.
“Even money is always welcome,” Mrs Cook said.
“We really want people to donate Christmas items, such as a small pudding, bon-bons or even decorations.
“Toys are also important.”
Uniting Care’s Ruth Grace said all hampers were distributed last year.
“There is a big need for them in the area,” she said.
“We give out a lot for children up to the age of seventeen.”
Mrs Grace said reaching out to single elderly people who were living alone was important.
“We want to reach as many people as possible,” she said.
All donations can be dropped off at Vinnies centres in Batemans Bay and Moruya or posted to Combined Welfare Agencies Hamper Appeal, PO Box 502, Batemans Bay.
Families, couples and individuals are invited to register to receive a Christmas hamper and toys by making an appointment with Uniting Care on 4472 6098 or Vinnies on 4475 3220.
