Edgewood Park aged care facility in Denhams Beach is undergoing extensive renovations and said it could no longer house its full-sized English billiards table.
The table, which is in immaculate condition, is free to a good home.
“We are turning this room into a dining room, so we haven’t got the space for it,” facility manager Barbara Maranik said.
“I don’t want to see someone have to take an axe to it for no reason. It is a lovely piece of furniture in immaculate condition.”
The table has a score counter, two sets of balls, cues with extensions and a brush, so it is something of a bargain.
“The problem is, it is not little,” Ms Maranik said.
In the old scale, it is 12 feet long and just over six feet wide, but can be taken apart to be moved.
“There are specialist movers in both Canberra and Albion Park who can move it,” Ms Maranik said.
The table has been at Edgewood Park for 20 years.
“Some residents still use it, and it has been well looked after,” Ms Maranik said.
Renovations that will transform Edgewood Park’s capacity from 90 beds to 130 are underway and the table needs to find a new home soon.
“We need to move it out in the next fortnight at the latest,” Ms Maranik said.
