The fire began mid-afternoon on Tuesday, September 30 and burnt half a hectare being being controlled.
South Coast RFS team manager John Cullen said crews responded quickly to put out the blaze in difficult weather.
"It was very windy conditions," he said
"It was a very quick response to knock it back."
The fire flared up south of the Coila petrol station and smoke reduced visibility on the Princes Highway.
The fire's cause is still under investigation.
The blaze follows one in the Mogo State Forest last week which burnt out six hectares of bush land.
Firefighters believe it was deliberately lit.
