Eurobodalla Shire Council has voted Councillor Rob Pollock to the role of deputy mayor.

Cr Pollock takes over from Councillor Neil Burnside and will serve in the role for the next two years after council passed a resolution that extended the term by an extra year in accordance with section 231 of the Local Government Act 1993.
Cr Pollock has been a local councillor for 27 years. Since he was first elected in 1987 he has both chaired and participated on a number of Council and regional development committees including the South Coast Cooperative Library Service, the Works and Services Committee and the Planning and Development Committee; Eurobodalla Bushfire Management Committee, the Tuross Hall Progress Sunset Committee and the Moruya Racecourse Management Committee, and Regional Development Australia – Far South Coast.
As well as a career that has included work as a business analyst and restaurateur, Cr Pollock has also been an active voluntary advocate for south coast tourism. He chaired the Eurobodalla Coast Tourism board for eight years and the South Coast Regional Tourism Organisation for 15 years and has served on both the Local Government Tourism Taskforce and the Tourism Industry Council.
His services to the local tourism industry were recognised by the Governor-General Her Excellency the Honourable Quentin Bryce with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2012 and by the South Coast Regional Tourism Organisation’s esteemed Chair’s Award in 2013.
Eurobodalla Shire Council’s mayor is popularly elected every four years and votes for its own deputy mayor. Cr Pollock has previously served his community for nine years in this role.
