The Batemans Bay junior cricketer received the award ahead of other players from the Shoalhaven, South Coast, Southern Highlands and Illawarra for his dedication, commitment and bowling ability.
Batemans Bay Cricket Club president Paul Gallen said Macpherson’s award was the result of “a lot of hard work”.
“It’s also a reward for everyone who has been involved with getting Batemans Bay into the Shoalhaven competition,” Gallen said.
“It provides a strong competition to nurture the talents of local cricketers such as Liam, and pathways for talented cricketers to advance.”
Macpherson, a 13-year-old year 8 student at Carroll College, was offered a scholarship to the academy after completing interviews and try outs earlier this year.
He joined fellow Batemans Bay junior Jack Gallen at the academy.
The right-arm fast bowler was also selected to the NSW training squad, Shoalhaven representative training squad and the Southern Zone training squad.
For the past two months Macpherson has taken part in two-day camps with NSW Cricket balancing cricket with his other sport, rugby union.
“He would be playing rugby union if he wasn’t playing cricket,” Liam’s dad, Mick Macpherson, said.
