Once endorsed by the elected councillors and the state government, the new rules should include provisions for compensation for those who could be financially affected.
Many built or purchased places in good faith that are likely to be affected by rising sea waters from events related to the predictions.
All governments and their employers have benefitted from developments that were allowed to be built in coastal areas where sea level rises are predicted.
Governments should assist with the finances that will be necessary to protect private and public assets.
