Finally the club had been delivered great weather conditions with sunny days accompanied by a moderate swell.
Most reports said the fish were “a bit shy” and slow to bite with the best catches being in 60 metres of water.
A total of 22 anglers weighed in 50 species of fish from bonito, small morwong, nannygai, trevally and some fine snapper up to three kilograms.
Brendan Cotterill won category A reeling a 2.97kg snapper and Brent Poile was the runner-up with a 2.79kg snapper.
Timmo Vaukonen won category B with a 1.5kg morwong and Annette Turner was the runner-up with a 720-gram trevally.
Bernie Basevi reeled in a 2.99kg tuna to win category C and Carl Cotterill won a 2.93kg snapper to win the junior category.
“Well done to all winning anglers, hope to see you at our next comp,” club weighmaster Andrew Turner said.
The next competition is scheduled for September 13 and 14 and fish must be at weigh in by 2pm on Sunday at the grounds of the Malua Bay Bowling Club.
