Both events, to be held in Moruya, are designed to provide information about career and learning opportunities for students and members of the community.
The Far South Coast Careers Market is targeted at students from seven of the region’s high schools and already has 45 stalls lined up.
As well as information for higher education such as TAFE or university courses, students will have a chance to learn about trades such as bricklaying, hairdressing and animal studies, to name a few.
South Coast Workplace Learning executive officer Steven Picton said the market was not just for students.
“About 100 adults came last year as well,” he said.
“Anyone who goes can pick up a show bag with information from the day available to them.”
TAFE Moruya campus manager Glenda Collins said the market was an awareness activity for businesses as well.
“People who come down are surprised by the facilities and opportunities available,” she said.
As well as the Careers Market, members of the community can also attend the Where the Jobs Are workshop the following day.
The workshop, hosted by Career Development Australia, is designed to assist job seekers with hints and tips on how to locate jobs in the area.
Employment trends, expected growth in regional labour markets, employment demographics and skills shortages will also be discussed at the workshop.
“We want to create more opportunities for people in the community to be employed,” Mr Picton said.
“Hopefully, we can show that you don’t have to travel far or move to a big city to be employed or achieve higher learning.”
More information about the Far South Coast Careers Market can be obtained from Tracy Hogg at Moruya High School, and those seeking to learn more about the Where the Jobs Are Workshop should contact Mr Picton.
