Crs Liz Innes, Neil Burnside, Peter Schwarz and Milton Leslight did not attend the meeting, where their motion to rescind the Broulee biodiverstiy certification strategy was considered.
As Cr Gabi Harding declared a conflict of interest on the matter a quorum was not met and the meeting could not go ahead.
Apologies from the four ERA councillors were not accepted by the councillors present at Tuesday’s meeting.
Cr Milton Leslight said he could not attend the extraordinary meeting due to “business commitments”.
Cr Neil Burnside said, in an emailed statement distributed yesterday afternoon, that he was “a little perplexed that so many people turned up, apparently unaware that we (ERA) were unable to attend”.
“I asked that interested parties be made aware that it would be unlikely that a quorum would be formed and that those interested in the matter should attend the meeting scheduled for July 8,” he said.
“ERA councillors continue to work to find a less draconian solution to the biodiversity problem and will do so despite the misrepresentations of our positions that are being made.”
Crs Liz Innes and Peter Schwarz did not respond to calls from the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner by the time of print.
The extraordinary meeting was moved to Tuesday, July 8 at 4pm.
The rescission motion was lodged at the conclusion of council’s ordinary meeting by Crs Burnside, Leslight and Schwarz after the Broulee biodiversity certification strategy was approved.
Council staff gave notice of the extraordinary meeting on Thursday.
