The murder trial of Oscar Pistorius has been postponed for a week, with the judge telling the court one of her assessors is sick, so the case cannot proceed.

The dramatic development came as the world waited for the man known as the Blade Runner to give evidence; he was widely tipped to be the first witness in his own defence.
Judge Thokozile Masipa is being assisted in the case by two legal consultants, known as assessors. There is no jury in the trial.
Both the prosecutor, Gerrie Nel, and Pistorius' barrister, Barry Roux, told the court they had no objection to resuming on April 7.
The court had previously been told the week of April 7 would be a recess, but both parties have changed their plans in order to accommodate the development.
