VIDEO/SOCIAL MEDIA: Hail storm hits Malua Bay

7AM UPDATE: Much of Malua Bay remains blanketed in hail this morning, more than 12 hours after a hailstorm swept through the suburb.

The SES has reported roof damage and flooding in a number of homes in the area.

7PM: Malua Bay, south of Batemans Bay, looks like a snowfield this evening as hail blankets the ground.

The storm hit shortly after 6pm Monday, with temperatures plummeting.

Cars are sliding in the icy conditions and motorists are being warned to take extra care

The hailstorm comes after a week of extreme weather, with temperatures soaring into the 30s on Sunday morning, only to plummet this afternoon.

It follows a similar blast of summer last Thursday,  where temperatures reached a peak of 34 degrees at Narooma and 34.8 degrees at Moruya Airport at 3pm.

Then the winds suddenly shifted and temperatures fell from 30.5 degrees at 4.41pm to 21.7 degrees at 4.54pm.
