Coach Deryck Fox put the boys through a gruelling session before hitting the ocean for a cool-off swim.
Fullback Mick Tadich, halfback Rhys Burazer, and utility Jared Wood-Johnsen all “led from the front”.
Tadich is reportedly in “super” condition for this time of year and “should be primed to continue his outstanding form from 2012,” spokesman John Ladmore said.
During last season, Tadich caught the eye of followers up and down the coast and developed into one of the Group’s best fullbacks.
Five-eighth Wood-Johnsen has showed the benefit of some off-season gym work and the added power should enable him to continue his development into a first class player, Ladmore added.
Although still young, Wood-Johnsen more than held his own against the best players in Group 7 last year and will be looking to make his mark in 2013.
New boy Scott Kalsbeek has “also been a stand out at training”.
Kalsbeek played first grade in the centres for ACT powerhouse club Queanbeyan Blues last season and it is hoped he will fill the gap left by centre Mason Harrison, who has returned to Sydney. Kalsbeek is related to 1979 and 1986 Tigers premiers centre Lyndon Poirrier and “should add a bit of class to the backline”.
Training tomorrow night will be at Wimbie Beach car park at 6pm and the run will be followed by a few games and a swim.
