A Moruya RFS spokesperson said they received a call from a South Head resident saying they thought they had seen a fire. However, later reports said the resident had reported seeing smoke, which had drifted into the area from the Shoalhaven blaze.
The fire was listed as out of control on the RFS website, at Renee Crescent in South Head, but has since been removed.
The RFS are asking people not to call ‘000’ to report smoke in the area. They say to only use ‘000’ if you see a fire without fire fighters in attendance or if your life is directly threatened.
