The four ERA councillors were objecting to the use of the words “steward” and “stewardship” in Part 5: Recognition of rural land owner stewardship, of the document.
Councillor Innes claimed this concept did not reflect the wishes of the representatives on the steering committee.
In her rebuttal of Ms Whitelaw’s deposition for the retention of the wording, Cr Innes claimed to be in possession of a letter signed by committee members as proof of her claim, the implication being that the independent consultancy that authored the document somehow subverted the committee’s message.
When Cr Harding (Greens) asked that the letter be produced and tabled, Cr Innes failed to respond.
I ask Cr Innes, an ERA candidate who campaigned on the issue of the lack of transparency of the previous council, to produce the letter so that the wider community can have confidence that proper process is being adhered to.
Sadly, voters, it appears the Tea Party’s come to town!
