In the past year, eight members successfully completed Cert IV in Training and Assessment to become accredited trainers, which has enabled the division to hold more first aid classes and revision on training nights, held on the first Monday of each month.
The Moruya division is also calling for more members and have invited interested residents to learn more about what St Johns is all about.
With no joining fees, all volunteers undertake free regular training to maintain first-aid skills and life-saving knowledge.
And children as young as eight-years-old can join, as juniors. Cadets are aged from 11 to 17-years-old.
For juniors and cadets it can be a valuable stepping stone towards their chosen career as an ambulance officer, nurse or in medicine.
St Johns volunteers attend sporting and community events and are responsible for bandaging sore arms and cleaning grazed knees.
Across Australia, St Johns Ambulance volunteers put their hands up during local and national emergencies, and community events - whether it’s major flooding or your child’s weekend footy match.
Members of St Johns ambulance are ordinary people from the community who volunteer their time to provide high quality first aid care.
It is a self-funding charitable organisation supported predominately by funds raised through the sale of First aid products and training courses.
The Moruya division meets fortnightly at the Masonic Hall, Moruya at 7.15pm. For more information of first aid classes or volunteering, contact Ray Johnson 44744635 or David Byrne 0427959085.
