Bay Adventure Kayakers is a fledgling club based on the Clyde River who race at Nelligen on Saturday mornings. All levels of ability and fitness are catered for with novice members receiving support and advice from more experienced paddlers. New members and paddlers are always welcome to join BAK, which also offers social connections and fitness training.
The club is particularly interested in attracting some younger kayakers wanting to develop skills to give the established paddlers a bit of competition.
On another note, the club farewells Rob Dewey and wife, Dr Reni Dewey, who were foundation members of BAK dating from the time the group was an integral part of the family kayaking business. Their efforts, together with those of their son Ian and his wife Jill, led to the establishment of the current community-based group.
“The Deweys have made an indelible mark upon water-sports in Batemans Bay and their dedication and energy will always be remembered,” Roy Willis said.
Ian and Jill Dewey have relocated to Adelaide.
“We wish them well in their new careers,” Willis said.
